Iraq, Oman, Russia, Azerbaijan, Pakistan Condemn Killing of Iranian ScientistDuring the phone call on Sunday, Fuad Hussein strongly condemned the assassination of Martyr Fakhrizadeh and expressed condolences of the Iraqi government and nation as well as their sympathy with the Iranian people.

Omani Foreign Minister Badr al-Busaidi also in a separate phone call condemned the terrorist attack, which led to the assassination of the Iranian physicist, saying that all forms of terrorism are rejected and unacceptable.

The top Omani diplomat also expressed his sympathy with the Iranian government and people.

In another development on Sunday, Chairman of the State Duma’s Foreign Affairs Committee Leonid Slutsky condemned the assassination of Iran’s nuclear scientist, nothing that the terror attack was aimed at provoking Iran.

"The murder of Iranian physicist Fakhrizadeh is a terrorist attack aimed at new provocation against Tehran. It’s important to prevent the escalation of tensions in the region," the lawmaker wrote on his Twitter account.

"Russia condemns this killing, no matter who carried it out, and expresses deep condolences to Iran and Fakhrizadeh’s relatives," Slutsky added.

In another phone call to Zarif the same day, Foreign Minister of the Republic of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov expressed his country’s condolences on the assassination of Iran’s nuclear scientist.

Bayramov strongly condemned Fakhrizadeh’s assassination as an “inhumane act” and discussed bilateral relations as well as other matters of mutual interest with his Iranian counterpart.

Meanwhile, a number of Pakistani political and religious parties on Sunday slammed the silence of the international community toward the assassination of Iran’s top nuclear scientist.

The condemnation came from participants at a seminar of Pakistani political and religious parties, which was held on the occasion of the International Solidarity Day of Palestine. They emphasized that arrogant powers and some of their stooges in the region are the main elements behind promotion of state terrorism.

They added that the Iranian nuclear scientist's assassination was a clear violation of international law, expressing regret that international bodies lack the ability to prevent the acts of lawlessness by the United States and the Israeli regime.

Fakhrizadeh, who headed the Iranian Defense Ministry’s Organization of Defensive Innovation and Research (SPND), was targeted on Friday in a multi-pronged attack involving at least one explosion and small fire by a number of assailants in Absard city of Damavand County, Tehran Province.

Iranian government officials and military commanders have hinted that the Israeli regime could have been behind the terror attack, vowing harsh revenge against all the criminals involved.

Meanwhile, the New York Times reported that Israel was behind the assassination, citing three US officials.

“One American official — along with two other intelligence officials — said that Israel was behind the attack on the scientist,” the paper said.

“It was unclear how much the United States may have known about the operation in advance, but the two nations are the closest of allies and have long shared intelligence regarding Iran,” it added.
