TEHRAN (defapress)- Iranian Health Minister Saeed Namaki announced on Monday that the country has been much successful in fighting COVID-19 and treating patients infected with the virus.

"All enemies of the Islamic Republic were waiting for its collapse after the coronavirus outbreak but they, themselves, were entangled in a deep quagmire," Namaki said in Khorassan Razavi province in Northeastern Iran.
He added that after the coronavirus epidemic in Spain, Italy, France and other European states, the Iranian university students studying in those countries chose to return to Iran saying "they have concluded that the Islamic Republic of Iran is the safest state to treat the COVID-19 patients".
Namaki said that all this success and honor was achieved while Iran was under the harshest US sanctions.
Head of the Coronavirus Control Operations Headquarters in Tehran Alireza Zali announced last Tuesday that over 88% of patients infected with COVID-19 residing in the capital city have been treated and discharged from hospital.
88.9% of coronavirus patients in Tehran have recovered and 1.69% of them have passed away, Zali said.
He described efforts to fight against coronavirus epidemic in Tehran as “highly successful”.
Zali also said that 850 medical research works related to coronavirus have been conducted in the country so far.
