TEHRAN (defapress) – Iran’s Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif outlined the measures taken by the Islamic Republic to promote peace in the region and said the country is working with the UN to put an end to the suffering of the Yemeni people.

“Our regional peace & counterterrorism efforts: Today I met w/Pres. Assad & FM of Syria ahead of Astana ministerial video conference,” Zarif tweeted late on Monday.
“Re Afghanistan, our Special Rep has met with all sides in Kabul in past days. On Yemen, our Special Rep working with UN & Yemenis to end suffering,” he added.
Saudi Arabia and a number of its regional allies launched a devastating campaign against Yemen in March 2015, with the goal of bringing the government of fugitive former president Abd Rabbuh Mansour Hadi back to power and crushing the Houthi Ansarullah movement.
