Terrorists Attack Repelled by Syria Army in Northwestern Aleppo"The Syrian army repelled an attack (carried out) by armed groups with Turkey's support on the village of Maaranaz northwest of the city of Aleppo," the source said, Sputnik reported.

According to the source, the militant groups sustained heavy losses as a result of violent clashes with the Syrian army and finally retreated. At least 15 militants died in the clashes, he added.

Syria has been fighting numerous militant groups since 2011.

Under the deal reached following a meeting between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in September, all militants should have withdrawn from the demilitarization zone by October 15.

However, al-Qaeda-linked Takfiri terrorists said they refuse to either leave the buffer zone or hand over their weapons.
