In separate decrees on Sunday, Ayatollah Khamenei,
Commander-in-Chief of the Iranian Armed Forces, put Rear Admiral Hossein
Khanzadi in charge of the Navy, appointed his predecessor to a new post in the
Army, and replaced the Army lieutenant commander.
The former long-serving Navy commander, Rear Admiral
Habibollah Sayyari, will be serving as the deputy chief of the Army for
coordination from now on.
And according to the third decree, Brigadier General
Mohammad Hossein Dadras succeeded Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan as
the lieutenant commander of the Army.
Imam Khamenei has repeatedly stressed the need for
strengthening the country’s military power and called on the Armed Forces to
maintain a high level of preparedness.
Iran’s Army comprises four major forces, namely the Ground
Force, Navy, Air Force and Air Defense.
